ALYSON  CAMBRIDGE

als around Europe.  Her lyric
soprano repertoire includes the roles of Mimi,
Violetta, Donna Elvira, Marguerite, Liu, Micaela
and Fiordiligi, amongst others.

Oper Berlin as Donna Elvira in DON GIOVANNI.  
Later in the season, Ms.
Cambridge returns to Lyric Opera of Chicago to sing the role of Julie La
Verne in a highly-anticipated new production of SHOW BOAT directed by
Francesca Zambello
, and sings Mimi in LA BOHEME with Opera Grand
Rapids.

During the 2008/09 season, Ms. Cambridge returned to the Metropolitan Opera as Crobyle in a new production of
THAÏS, conducted by Jesús López-Cobos, and as Bianca in Nicolas Joël’s new production of LA RONDINE, conducted
by Marco Armiliato. Both productions were broadcast live in high-definition to cinemas around the world. She also
made her debut at Lyric Opera of Kansas City as Mimì in LA BOHEME and rounded out the season with Mimì at Opera
Theatre of Saint Louis. Her concert calendar included Les Chants d’Auvergne with the Baton Rouge Symphony, as well
as the Brahms Requiem and Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5 with the Roanoke Symphony, and solo concerts in Barbados
and Hawaii.

During the 2007/08 season, Alyson Cambridge made several company and role debuts. She began the season as
Musetta in Washington National Opera's new production of LA BOHEME, under the baton of Emmanuel Villaume,
followed by her company and role debut as Mimì with Boston Lyric Opera. For her debut with Atlanta Opera, she sang
her first Susanna in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO. On the concert stage, Alyson appeared with the Omaha Symphony, Roanoke
Symphony, and in a recital tour of William Bolcom's From the Diary of Sally Hemings.

The young American soprano is a frequent guest of the Metropolitan Opera, having made her debut in 2004 under the
baton of James Levine as Frasquita in CARMEN (a performance for which The New York Times noted her “powerful, clear
voice”). Other Met roles include Karolka in JENŮFA, the Flowermaiden in PARSIFAL, and Gianetta in L’ELISIR D'AMORE.
Highlights of past seasons include a tour of Japan as Frasquita, under the baton of Seiji Ozawa; Clara in PORGY AND
BESS at Washington National Opera, Michigan Opera Theater, and for her company debut at Los Angeles Opera; her
role debut as Donna Elvira in DON GIOVANNI with Portland Opera Repertory Theatre; Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 with Sir
Simon Rattle and the Oberlin Chamber Orchestra; Gounod’s Juliette with Opera Theatre of St. Louis; her company
debut with Palm Beach Opera as Musetta; Euridice in Monteverdi’s L’ORFEO with the Handle & Haydn Society; Adina
in L’ElLISIR D'AMORE with Wolf Trap Opera; selections from PORGY AND BESS with Peter Nero and the Detroit Symphony
Orchestra; and Canteloube’s Chants d’Auvergne with Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra.

Alyson Cambridge received both a B.M. in Voice Performance from the Oberlin Conservatory and a B.A. in Sociology
from Oberlin College.  With Oberlin Opera Theater, she performed the roles of Rosalinde in DIE FLEDERMAUS, the Maiden
in Henry Mollicone's COYOTE TALES, Donna Anna in DON GIOVANNI, and Dido in DIDO AND AENEAS.  During her summers
at the Chautauqua Institution Voice Program, she performed the title role in Suor Angelica, Mrs. Gobineau in Menotti’s
The Medium, Lauretta in GIANNI SCHICCHI, and Metella in LA VIE PARISIENNE.   After graduating from Oberlin in 2002,
Cambridge continued her studies at the Curtis Institute of Music, pursuing a Master's of Music, and where she performed
the role of Anna Gomez in Menotti’s The Consul.  

Ms. Cambridge is a recent graduate of the Metropolitan Opera's Lindemann Young Artist Development Program which
she was asked to join after being named a Grand Prize Winner of the 2003 Metropolitan Opera National Council
Auditions.  Amongst other numerous prizes and awards, she also won First Prize in the 2003 Licia Albanese-Puccini
Foundation International Voice Competition, was a 2004 George London Foundation Award recipient, and received
the Régine Crespin Award at the 2008 Elardo International Opera Competition.

Joseph Calleja with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra under Mo. Frederic Chaslin in Vienna and Munich and with the
Lithuanian National Orchestra in Ljubljiana, Slovenia.  She also performs the role of Violetta in LA TRAVIATA in a special
concert performance in Munich with Joseph Calleja and Simon Keenlyside.  
The summer of 2012 will see Ms. Cambridge
make her return to Sun Valley, Idaho (where she was named 2009 Artist of the Year) for a concert with the Sun Valley
Summer Symphony, and return to Asia for concerts in China and Korea.


The 2010/11 season included two European house debuts - first with Polish National Opera as Violetta in LA TRAVIATA,
then as Donna Elvira in DON GIOVANNI with Savonlinna Opera Festival for which she recieved rave reviews.  Ms.
Cambridge also returned to Lyric Opera of Kansas City as Micaela in CARMEN and to the Metropolitan Opera for LA
BOHEME.  On the concert stage, she performed in recital for the U.S. Supreme Court Justices with tenor Matthew
Polenzani, debuted with the National Symphony Orchestra at the J.F. Kennedy Center for their New Year's Eve Gala
concert, made her Paris concert debut at the Festival de Saint-Denis with
Villa-Lobos's Bachianas Brasileiras No. 1 &
5and sings Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Alabama Symphony.   She was also part of a three-soprano concert
tour of China to promote environmental awareness.

The 2009/10 season marked Alyson Cambridge’s company debut at Portland Opera as Musetta in LA BOHEME, and her
return to Washington National Opera as Clara in Francesca Zambello’s production of PORGY AND EBSS She also
debuted at Opera Cleveland as Donna Elvira in DON GIOVANNI, performed concerts in New York and Sun Valley, and
began a recital tour in support of her 2010 debut CD release of William Bolcom’s song cycle From the Diary of Sally
Hemings. The first stop on the tour was at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall and marked the
New York premiere of the
piece.  She also debuted with the San Francisco Symphony.
